Boca Raton Executive Club Meetings Will Resume September 5th With Miami Dolphin's CEO, Mike Dee As Keynote Speaker!
A new, exciting season has arrived for the Boca Raton Executive Club! You will not want to miss our first meeting on September 5th featuring the Miami Dolphin's CEO; Mike Dee. Mike will share with us his fascinating experiences as a veteran sports team executive, successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.
Mike Dee was named Chief Executive Officer of the Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium by Stephen M. Ross on May 3, 2009. Dee came to South Florida and the NFL after a distinguished 15-year career in Major League Baseball, where he played a lead role in the resurgence of two franchises and was a member of two World Series Championship teams.
Since joining the Dolphins, Dee has laid out the three fundamental commitments that guide the franchise during the Ross ownership era: 1) To assemble a sound, smart, and tough football team that consistently competes for championships; 2) To consistently strive to enhance the fan experience at Sun Life Stadium and aggressively market the team to a broad region and diverse fan base; and 3) To be active participants in the community.
Dee has spearheaded the team's efforts to live up to these commitments. In order to grow the club's fan base, he created a series of programs in the western and central regions of the state and worked tirelessly to improve the game-day experience for the team's fans by implementing a host of technological, entertainment, and culinary innovations that has made the atmosphere at Dolphins home games unique in the NFL. On the business side, Dee finalized a ground-breaking naming rights deal for the stadium with Sun Life Financial, revamped and improved the club's broadcast and internet platforms, and developed a series of customized programs designed to enhance the team's relationship with its business partners. Dee also places a strong emphasis on the club's community relations efforts, having introduced a host of new charitable initiatives, including the team's annual blood drive and the Dolphins Cycling Challenge, which raised more than $1 million for South Florida's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in just two years.
After beginning his sports career in San Diego with the Padres (1995-2002), Dee followed his mentor, CEO Larry Lucchino, to Boston and assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Business Affairs for the Red Sox. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2004, a position he held until his departure to join the Dolphins. During his tenure in Boston, the Red Sox won two World Series titles and set franchise records for attendance and revenue each year - including an MLB record for consecutive sellouts dating back to 2003. Other noteworthy achievements while in Boston include bringing annual concerts to Fenway Park and directing the expansion of the team's business and real estate interests that stemmed from the eight-year renovation of Fenway Park and the surrounding neighborhood. Dee also has a history of working in the Sunshine State, having consummated a 30-year agreement with Lee County Florida to build the Red Sox a publicly-financed Spring Training facility that opened in 2012.
Dee also served as President of Fenway Sports Group, a company that he created in 2004 under the direction of Red Sox owners John Henry and Tom Werner. An enterprise charged with diversifying the business interests of the Red Sox beyond baseball, FSG developed a wide array of endeavors across the sports and media landscape. In February, 2007, FSG acquired a 50% interest in Roush Racing and formed what is known today as Roush Fenway Racing, NASCAR's largest race team. Dee served on the board of Roush Fenway as a Managing Director, during which time the team won two notable championships: Carl Edwards' 2007 Busch Series Championship and Matt Kenseth's Daytona 500 victory in February 2009.
Outside of his work for the Dolphins, Dee is active in the philanthropic community, serving on the board of the Miami Children's Museum, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Pan Mass Challenge. To date, the Pan Mass Challenge - an annual Boston-based cycling event - has raised more than $260 million for cancer research. Dee is an avid cyclist and rides in the event each August.
Dee attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he played basketball and earned a degree in government. He currently serves on the Advisory Board at F&M. Dee and his wife, Karen, have two sons, Spencer (12) and Tommy (10).

Boca Raton Executive Club Hosts Share Ross At Woodfield Country Club
Share Ross is best known as the former bassist for platinum selling all female rockers, Vixen. From a musical background and an education at Berklee she cut her teeth on the Minneapolis jazz scene before performing in every continental state in the US. She scraped up extra change working as crew and sailed the Caribbean for six months surviving a hurricane at sea. She had two back operations and kicked a hospital morphine habit. All of this before the age of 21, and before launching a successful career as bassist for the platinum-selling rock band Vixen. Join us November 2nd for our next Executive Club meeting featuring Share Ross.
These days, Share Ross rocks audiences with “Unleash Your Inner Rock Star,” a rock n roll ride with inspiration and stories to connect everyone. Before that she was a session musician for people like Helen Reddy, The Coasters, The Drifters and several jazz big bands. Raised in Minnesota by a wonderful father and a very musical mother whose six brothers and sisters all played multiple instruments as did Grandma and Grandpa which resulted in wild jam sessions every time that side came to visit. Eventually, Share chose bass after being well schooled on piano and messing around with guitar. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston as a bass player and composer.
At one of her session gigs in Los Angeles, the guitarist for Vixen, Jan Kuehnemund saw her playing and gave Share her phone number. A couple of months later, Share called her up hoping to connect with Vixen and meet other people in that scene. Funny thing was, she called on the very day that Vixen fired their bassist. A few weeks later, she was firmly ensconced in the band and shortly thereafter, the band was signed to EMI Records. Vixen toured heavily, playing an average of 320 gigs per year. Eddie Money, Bad Company, Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS and The Scorpions were the acts that brought Vixen out on tour with them.
Share was asked to be part of the ‘super group’ Contraband and the band rehearsed and recorded a bunch of cover tracks. It was at this time that Vixen realized there was some bad blood between their manager and their record label. Vixen discovered they no longer had a record deal by reading about it in Billboard magazine when the then-President of EMI announced he would no longer work with any artists or bands managed by Allan Kovac. After Vixen, Share went on to become an award winning songwriter with her husband, Bam. Their song, Sparkle Star won the Song of the Year in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. She was also honored to win Best Female Guitarist two years in a row in Los Angeles.
Enter: Reinvention. Realizing that she by removing limiting beliefs about herself she could do anything, Share began a life long pursuit of launching careers and reinventing herself. Most notably, in the knitting craze that swept the nation in 2003, Share learned to knit. Within a year, she had secured a publishing deal with Stewart, Tabori and Chang, part of the Harry Abrams group for her knitting book, Punk Knits which features her designs and all of the models are her rock n roll friends in Hollywood.
In 2007, she studied options trading and to this day, trades iron condors, butterflies and other income spreads. Currently, Share pursues a raw vegan lifestyle and is the host of three online video shows:
1. A music news show - Rock n Roll TV - http://www.rocknrolltv.net./
2. A satire news show - Nearly The News - http://www.nearlythenews.com/
3. A Netflix movie review show - Add 2 Q - http://add2q.mevio.com/
After joining Toastmasters and winning numerous speech contests, she has realized her passion for sharing her message. She wants you to release your inner rockstar and become anything and everything you've ever dreamed of!

Boca Raton Executive Club Hosts Renowned HR Professional, Motivational Speaker, Author & Former Notre Dame Linebacker, Marvin A. Russell
The Boca Raton Executive Club will be hosting Marvin A. Russell at the Wednesday, October 5th meeting held at Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton. Executive Director of the business networking organization, Michelle S. Clubb stated: "We are looking forward to hosting such a compelling international leader, HR professional, motivational speaker, author and former Notre Dame linebacker as our keynote speaker for October. We are especially looking forward to learning more about Mr. Russell's world of 3E LeadershipTM (Become the Essential, Exceptional, and Ethical Leader); which has inspired and motivated individuals across the country."
International leadership and human resources professional and collegiate national football champion Marvin A. Russell recently announced the release of his new book: Linebacker in the Boardroom: Lessons in Life and Leadership, published by Outskirts Press. Russell's philosophy of leadership goes beyond football, beyond sports and beyond the world of corporate life to provide readers with the personal inspiration they need to reach the excellence and accountability necessary for success in any area of life.
After growing up in a small Pennsylvania factory town, Russell went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame, earning his National Championship football ring as a linebacker for the Fighting Irish. From there he travelled the world as an HR executive strategist and talent development specialist and later as a much sought-after leadership consultant to C-Suite executives and those in the boardrooms of multi-billion dollar corporations. Along the way he molded and evolved his own lessons in leadership from the multitude of experiences - both successes and failures - and key global events in recent history (such as the civil rights movement, 1968 Olympics, and the war on terror).
"My lessons in tenacity and perseverance and hard work can help anyone be successful in their own lives," writes Russell, who has pared down these lessons to the easily grasped concepts of 3E LeadershipTM and Finding Your Impact ZoneTM and reinforced with thought-provoking principles he refers to as Marvisms.
His 3E LeadershipTM philosophy and approach defines and demands Essential, Exceptional and Ethical attributes in our leaders. It is a model for behavioral competence that outlines the game-changing fundamental tools needed to transform anyone into a high performer. Your Impact Zone are those points ripe for an individual to differentiate themself and make a distinct and unique impact on others and the world around them.
Readers will find that Linebacker in the Boardroom is relevant from both a personal and a professional perspective, regardless of one's age, education level, or professional standing. Whether a member or leader of a business work team, community-based organization, an athletic team or a religious group; whether a senior executive of small or global corporations, a college graduate just beginning a career in the corporate world or public sector; a student or embarking on a career change, one can benefit from Marv's easy-to-follow road map to attaining successful leadership qualities.
Linebacker in the Boardroom is available on-line through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, http://marvrussell.com/events-media/, and at http://www.outskirtspress.com/bookstore/9781432775575.html for a maximum trade discount in quantities of ten or more.

Boca Raton Executive Club members receive maximum exposure and a chance to develop new business contacts within Woodfield, Boca Raton and the surrounding area.
Meetings are held in the ballroom at Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton and begin at 12:00 noon and run until 1:30 pm. A buffet luncheon will be served during the meeting for the cost of $20.00 for members and $35.00 for non-members. The cost of annual membership is $250.00 per person. Boca Raton Market Update September 2011
What's Up Boca?
Wendy and I wanted to let you know that the market is still holding steady. Inventory is up slightly in our market as you can see from the graph below. Listings are up 4% and the good news is closed sales are up 12% with a decrease in sales price by about 10%. Our overall impression of the market is that there is still strong activity in our area and we believe it will be a good 2012 for everyone!
In addition, we would like to announce that the Boca Raton Executive Club resumed this month with featured speaker, Laurie S. Silvers. We had a tremendous turn-out with over 75 attendees. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the Ballroom at 12 - noon. Our scheduled guest speaker is motivational speaker, author and former Notre Dame Linebacker, Marvin A. Russell.
If you would like to join this dynamic networking organization or would like to renew your membership, contact Michelle Clubb for more information.
